[squid-users] squid 2.7/AUFS/Only READS are async ?

I switched from ufs to aufs, and recognized, that using cachemgr, "ASYNC IO
Counters" always show
"write:0", athough the other counters for read, unlink etc. have high
values.
Digging into the source code, in /src/fs/aufs/store_asyncufs.h, I found

#define ASYNC_WRITE 0

obviously disabling async writes.

Is it disabled because being broken/unstable, or any other reason ?

Would like to get some feedback before trying to enable it in a production
system.
