As good plan as any. Porting 2.7 should be very straight forward from
2.6.

That would be great. I am not in a rush to get 2.7 out. Squid-2 work at
the moment is focused on finalizing 2.6 so it then can be left at rest
when 2.7.STABLE1 has been released..
