new FATAL error in 1.1.8

Last night, we got this fatal error for the first time:
FATAL: urlcmp: Got a NULL url pointer.
Squid Cache (Version 1.1.8): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: user 1796 sys 2246
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0

Ideas ?

I have also a lot of kenel panics on this system (once every 2 days at least)
and someone told me it was probably a memory problem.
How can I check that ?
