Re: difference between MSIE and NS?

A number of people have asked that I further explain what my problem is:

Using the access*.pl scripts found at
http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/Scripts/, here's a portion of the output I
receive:

FIRST ACCESS: Mon Apr 21 01:06:20 1997
 LAST ACCESS: Thu May 1 00:53:53 1997

                        SUMMARY OF REQUEST METHOD USAGE

ellis.ns301-09 0 - - 9405 6% 26% 58.81 6%

Now this distribution is relatively constant. If I break down the log
files by day, ellis.msie302-01 still ranks at the top for both counts and
bytes.

All Netscape workstations are set with a 5 meg local cache, the MSIE
workstation is set with a 8 meg cache (1% on the slider, 800 meg drive.)
The Netscape stations are set to verify documents once per session, the
MSIE station is set the same (the exact words are "Check for newer versions
of stored pages: Every time you start Internet Explorer"

These workstations are all in the same basic area, and staff in that area
haven't noticed anything unusual about the activity at that workstation
versus any others. We installed MSIE on this one workstation to see how it
would work out.

But until I understand why these numbers are so different, I'm a little
worried about it.

If it matters, we a run 500 meg Squid 1.1.8 cache on a RedHat 4.1 Linux box
(P-166, 48M RAM, 2.5G HD)
