I agree 110%! Not much expierience with the other two. All of my own
machines (and most of my servers with the exception of a few HP Netservers
and some Micron servers at a few clients) are entirely home brewed.

My understanding is the transparent proxies run into some problems
regarding what gets and does not get cached and such when they are used
in a hierarchy. If I could setup a very simply transparent proxy for my
dialups and have it use my main cache as a parent -- provided this
would work and still cache most of the traffic -- I'd do it. I'll have to
look into 1.2's transparent cacheing some more. I'm just running 1.2 in
"normal" mode right now for testing.
