To identify what your specific problem is then a debug log with
debug_options 9,4
would help a lot.

Are you sure you use the proxy transparently for FTP requests? This
requires a separate program to decode the FTP protocol, and is not done
in most transproxy setups (since it most likely would break some FTP
clients/options)
