The only issue with this is that I am simply trying to get rid of
some of the complexity in dealing with SNMP queries. I really would like
to avoid doing multiple checks everytime a query is recieved. It is not a
problem doing it, however I want to keep the SNMP code as simple and
efficient as possible.

Sorry, I am not sure I understand this?

This is a possibility. However, just as you should change your
password, so should you change your community string. So I think this
could be too inflexible. Two configuration options in squid.conf should be
easy enough to handle.

Your suggestion does give a large amount of control, however it
would make the configuration reasonably complex (If I understand).
