We will be in a similar situation soon. I don't know of any patches to
squid doing this. You can get the effect with two instances of squid
(running on the same machine) configured as siblings, I think.
It would probably be more efficent to enhance squid in this respect
though. Maybe I'll do that - but not in the next couple of weeks.
