What is squid able to handle?

I am just curious about stats and other things. We are currently testing a
squid server as a transparent cache it has been up about a day and has
received about 650,000 requests and cached about 2.5gb. we are currently
only routing about 1/4 of our traffic through the server and getting
worried about memory and drive space. I was just wondering if there is any
standard ratio's or min requirements as far as mem and disk space to # of
hits and # of users? Currently we are running a p2-266, 128 ram, 2-6gb
cheetah drives for cache and 6gb drive for os, squid, logs.

Thanks
