Parent selection in 2.2STABLE1

Hi,

I can't for the life of me work the following out...

I live in a squid cache hierarchy. I'm running 2.2STABLE1 on my local
server and the parent is a 2.1 box. Note that the 2.1 parent won't respond
to ICP requests.

I have some very simple needs:
  - Go direct for URLs that have cgi-bin or ? in them
  - Go direct for URLs that fall into a small number of domains
  - Send everything else via the parent

Using 2.2STABLE1 I can either
1) Get ALL traffic to go direct, or
2) Get ALL traffic to go to the parent, by virtue of setting
   "prefer_direct off"
There's no middle ground...

I have commented out all my hierarchy_stoplist, no_cache, always_direct
lines.

Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks,
Gavin
