This domain magic is possible to do from a redirector.

Trap domainless addresses. If it isn't a known intranet address then use
any heuristics to rewrite the address to an internet address and return
it as a browser redirect. (don't do a silent rewrite, it will open
security problems in some browsers, and cause user confusion)
