Well I run wWCCP (squid2.3D3) with a linux Red Hat Linux release 6.0,
Kernel 2.2.10 on an i686, and a 4500 router with a 1 - 1.5 Mbps traffic.
It's running quite good, and it *is* fault tolerant. Whenever squid stops
sending "wccp hello" messages, router stops redirecting, this doesn't take
too long, 10 seconds maybe.

Only PROBLEM I see with the wccp is after some time it STOPS. Although
cache sends "wccp hello" messages, and although the router sees the cache,
it does not redirect any packets. It's something to do with "Hash
Allotment". Whenever I see 0000 in the "Assigned Hash Info" field when I run
"sh ip wccp web-caches" no packets are redirected. When I restart squid
"Assigned Hash Info" turns to FFFF and it works.

I don't know whats happening and here is the output when it's working:

router#sh ip wccp w
WCCP Web-Cache information:
        IP Address: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd
        Protocol Version: 0.4
        State: Usable
        Initial Hash Info: 00000000000000000000000000000000
                               00000000000000000000000000000000
        Assigned Hash Info: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
                               FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
        Hash Allotment: 256 (100.00%)
        Packets Redirected: 1144
        Connect Time: 00:00:37

Utku.

Life would be much easier if we could just look at the source code.
