"Out of inodes" on Solaris

Greetings,

Hoping someone has seen this problem before....

squid2.2STABLE5 on SunOS 5.6

One busy cache 4gig cache partion repeatedly quits caching, filling the
/var/adm/message file with "out of inodes". Squid still runs crippled.
Some processes, like rotating the log files, don't occur.

Have put newfs on this partition twice now, rebuit the 4 gig cache as
"cache_dir /var/cache 3000 16 256"

Failed again today, so split the partition into two 2gig partitions, and
recreated the "cache_dir cache as /var/cache/1 1400 16 256 and /var/cache/2
1400 16 256"

Has anyone seen this behavior? If so will our partitioning help anything?
