Tried both. Currently run with a caching bind on the same box(es).

If you have multiple servers then it may be beneficial to have all use
the same DNS server. DNS caching is like web caching, the more users the
better hit ratio and lower latency until you overload the DNS server
causing a somewhat reversed situation..

Thing you need to keep in mind is that both BIND and Squid are quite
memory hungry, but BIND will require that memory regardless if it runs
on the cache box or on another box.
