Hallo,

we use AIX and the file /etc/inittab for automatic start of squid

The entry is

squid:2:respawn:/bin/su nobody -c /usr/local/squid/bin/squid -NsY
>/dev/console 2>&1

(our squid-user is nobody)

Then type

init q (or reboot)

and squid works (perhaps)

If squid goes down squid start again.

Problems:
   /usr/local/squid/logs is full (restart won't help)
   to stop squid /etc/inittab must be edit (and type init q)
