Intelligence in a proxy?

Dear Squiders,

IMHO maintaining squids performance can be quite complex. Are there any
metrics we
can put into squid that enable it to highlight problem areas on the squid
status pages.
The idea being if squid thinks a certain status is a problem it will list it
in bold and
possibly generate snmp traps to alert people.

Is this feasible?
