Hi.
 
You may be starting squid from root, but Squid is not running as root.. Make
sure that your cache_effective_user has the correct permissions to read and
write to your cache directory (and the directory that it is about to be
created in).. That should fix your problem.

I just tried to install squid 2.3Stable
 
 
setup seems tp be ok but when i tried to run squid -z to create cache
directories, i got
the following error : enable to create cache directories
/usr/local/squid/cache/ : Permission denied.
 
 P.S. : I'm running as root
 
any ideas are welcome,
