[SQU] optimization issue?

Solaris 2.5/x86, gcc 2.7.2
gcc's -O optimisation causes squid to coredump when requesting
     cache_object://hostname/info
Note, -O is normally selected by default from the configure script.

Does anyone know if this is now fixed or if it is OK to use -O2 under
Solaris 2.8/sparc64, gcc 2.95.2 ??
