Oh, I am sorry I forgot. I don't have any control over the Cisco Router.
That's why I am seeking another way.

you can just configure wccp on the cisco to redirect all the http traffice
to the squid box...

then you only need one ethernet segment in the cache box, and all the
other traffic on the network doesn't need to be bridged through the linux
box...
