Hi joe
how r u
i ve recently compiled squid2.4 S1 with --enable-removal policies and
duanes reset patch
squid is wccp enabled
what ive observer that after squid is started , it does wccp fine with
the router
howver after 3 mins or so i stops doing wccp.. not only this it also
doesnt process requests .. even cachemgr does not work ....
however it accepts conection on port 3128 coz i cud telnet to it...
without the reset patch .. it just works fine
i m confused ... shall try out the same on other boxes and see if they
behave in the same way

another thing .... ;-)
using the ACL s for worms ithink that squid can act as a pretty good
protector if used as an accelerator in front of worm friendly IIS
servers..
also can i use
ipchains -A input -p tcp -s 0/0 -d SQUID_IP 80 -j DENY
this rule is meant to stop any worm requests directed to the squid box
itself at the kernel level rather than passing them upto squid where it
rejects them using the ACL .....
is my logic okay .. hope it wont cause any probs coz i am using squid
as a transparent proxy .....

also u earlier said that 2.4 is not thebest of kernels .. howver recent
posts on the mail say that 2.4 is good for SMP ... what do u say???

hoping to hear from u
rgds
khizer
