[squid-users] accelerated mode and proxy_auth

running fbsd 4.5-RC, and using the squid2.4STABLE3 from fbsds ports collection.

trying to get smb_auth to work with a working transparent proxy, and i get this
in the log file:

2002/01/23 22:01:55| aclMatchAclList: checking domainusers
2002/01/23 22:01:55| aclMatchAcl: checking 'acl domainusers proxy_auth REQUIRED'
2002/01/23 22:01:55| aclMatchAcl: proxy_auth domainusers not applicable on accelerated requests.

so, a little digging, and i find that others who reported this problem were told that it's not possible to run proxy_auth while running in accelerated mode. well, after a little bit more digging, i find the changelog from 2.4STABLE3:

 Changes to Squid-2.1 (November 16, 1998):
- Changed proxy_auth to work on internal objects and when in
          accelerator mode. (Henrik Nordstrom)

so it seems as though this feature has been added and indeed is possible, but is not working for me.

can anyone shed some more light on this for me? thanks!
