You are confusing me here.. which compiler did you use to compile
Squid? The HP compiler or GCC?

You should be able to compile Squid using the HP compiler and GNU
make.

You should also be able to compile squid using GCC and GNU make.

You most likely cannot compile Squid using the make program shipped
by HP. The HP make program is buggy an cannot deal with continuation
lines proper. If anyone wants to file a bug report with HP on this I
am more than happy to provide the required details, including valid
references to the specifications HP-UX claims to comply to...
