Wccp module is installed (no errors on modprobe and depmod).  As evidence, router and squid exchange wccp messages (here 1 am/i see you/bucket assigned).
The gre patch I saw on the sight was for 2.2 kernel.  Since no gre patch was mentioned for 2.4 kernel, I took it to be already fixed.  I also didn't see anything in the FAQ concerning gre and 2.4 kernel.
If this patch is required, what steps are needed to implement it for 2.4 kernel?
