[squid-users] Squid DNS cache problem

Hello,

After a network/DNS failure, squid stopped working correctly for me. I
can no longer access e.g. http://www.cnn.com with the proxy. If I
disable the proxy, everything works. The problem seems to be DNS lookup
since

[~][5082] >host www.uiuc.edu
www.uiuc.edu is an alias for spider.cso.uiuc.edu.
spider.cso.uiuc.edu has address 128.174.5.27
[~][5083] >host www.cnn.com
Host www.cnn.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

access.log has a lot of lines saying:

... GET http://www.cnn.com/ - NONE/- -

store.log indicates that the content type is unknown:

... RELEASE -1 ... -1 -1 -1 unknown -1/1051 GET http://www.cnn.com/

There are also other URLs that have the same problem.

Any idea what is going? There was a general DNS/network failure a few
days ago. I think that may have caused some stale cache entry
somewhere, but I am not really sure.
