At a guess (because I don't know what was in your hosts file): You have
an entry for proxyserver, with a value of 127.0.0.1. Essentially, your
browsers then tried to access http://127.0.0.1/somefile

it's completely up to you. If you want to use it, make sure that any
servers you want accessible are referenced by routable ip address's.
