I've download and compiled 3.0-DEVEL-20030128 on a secondary proxy
server (which was already installed as 2.6 like the other).

I've used the same squid.conf file as 2.6 and fire-up squid.
As far it seems to work (I've not tested Windows Update yet) but in my
access.log file my connection is logged as originated directly by the
proxy address.

Is there any difference in configs file that I need to know ???

p.s.: I've used the same .configure options (you will find them below)

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/squid --enable-useragent-log
--enable-snmp --enable-cache-digests --disable-ident-lookups \
--enable-default-err-language=Italian --enable-delay-pools \
--enable-auth="basic ntlm" --enable-basic-auth-helpers='NCSA' \
--enable-basic-auth-helpers="SMB winbind" \
--enable-external-acl-helpers="winbind_group" \
--enable-ntlm-authentication --enable-basic-authentication \
--bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --libexecdir=/usr/lib/squid \
--datadir=/usr/lib/squid --sysconfdir=/etc/squid \
--localstatedir=/var/spool/squid --libdir=/usr/lib/squid \
--mandir=/usr/man
