A fairly standard machine by todays measures can handle 100-200 requests
/second with only a little tuning.

Example configuration
* Decent CPU (PIII/Celeron)
* Decent amount of memory (1GB)
* 3-4 IDE drives, or SCSI SCA if you want hot-swap for service
purposes.. (cold-swap IDE bays also work for service purposes, but does
not fit in 1U)
