I would say there is still issues with Basic HTTP authentication in the
version of MSIE you are using, failing on CONNECT requests, plus a major
security issue in how your MSIE browser manages https:// requests.

You need to talk to Microsoft about both issues. Fixing the first issue
may hide the second however..

As a workaround you can try if "client_persistent_connections off"
helps..
