I think it's a pretty reasonable to assume that Swelltech are "for real" ;)

They seem to be asking for funds to pay for a developer, except that they
have written most of the code already. I would think it wasteful to
sponsor someone else to write this functionality again when, if the funding
is found, the code will be released under the GPL anyway..
