FTP Client Help

We're running SQUID and generally very happy with it for browser cacheing.

We have, however, totally failed to make it work for the benefit of FTP
(our proxy application is somewhat unique because we have an arragement
with an ISP who provides very high speed access to us ONLY through SQUID at
a reduced price, and we can direct other internet traffic through slower
links -- so having fast FTP access through SQUID has direct benefit for us,
even for 1-time transfers).

So -- will SQUID do what we want? We've tried the obvious FTP client
suspects (e.g. Fetch and Anarchie on the Mac) and neither works so far
(show that they request connection but it doesn't ever happen). Is there
anything unobious about the SQUID setup to accomplish our goals?
